ProjectScout is a New Zealand opportunity intelligence platform. This policy explains how we handle personal information in compliance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
2. What we collect
- Account information: name, email address, and password hash.
- Business preferences: industries, locations, keywords, watchlists, and notification settings.
- Billing information: handled by Stripe — we store only the subscription status and customer reference, never card numbers.
- Usage data: pages visited, opportunities viewed, alerts opened, and basic device/browser metadata for security and product improvement.
- Communications: messages you send to support.
3. Why we collect it
- To provide and personalise the Service to your business.
- To match opportunities to your watchlists and deliver notifications.
- To process subscriptions and provide support.
- To detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To improve product quality and source coverage.
4. How we store and protect it
Personal information is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Access is limited to authorised personnel for support, operations, and incident response.
5. When we share it
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Email infrastructure providers — to deliver notifications you have opted into.
- AI providers — to generate summaries and classifications from public source content; we do not send personally identifiable customer data for these tasks.
- Law enforcement or regulators — only when required by law.
We do not sell personal information.
6. Your rights
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Deletion — close your account and request deletion of associated personal information, subject to our legal record-keeping obligations.
- Opt-out — disable email notifications at any time from your settings or via the unsubscribe link on any email.

7. Retention
We retain personal information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax, and audit requirements.
8. Changes
When this policy changes, the version number changes and we will ask you to accept the updated version before continuing to use the Service.
